Amponville

The commune of Amponville is located in the north of the Gâtinais plateau, in contact with the wooded fringes of the Fontainebleau forest massif. The dominant activity is agriculture: almost all of its territory is arable land. The village and its hamlet of Jacqueville, 2 km away, were possessions of the Abbey of St Victor de Paris until the French Revolution.

Marked by the Hundred Years' and Religious Wars, these lands contain remarkable architectural elements: the remains of an ancient 12th century keep and two churches, Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in Amponville and Notre-Dame de la Nativité and Saint-Séverin, located in Jacqueville.
