Garentreville

The village was first settled in the Neolithic period. Fortifications were built during the Hundred Years' War. Its ramparts have disappeared, but their location can still be seen on the path known as "Derrière les Fossés".

The Gothic-style church of Saint-Martin was rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries, following the numerous damages caused by the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion. The church has a typical Gâtinais bell tower. A land of vines and wheat, the commune has retained its agricultural vocation.

Jorge Semprún, a Spanish writer and politician, had a country house here. He is buried in the Garentreville cemetery, next to his wife.
